Cornwall Family History Society The Society was formed in 1976 and now has over 5000 active members, mostly outside Cornwall, with many in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and other countries. It aims to become a ‘centre of excellence’ encouraging research into Cornish family history, by co-ordinating transcription and indexing of original records by its members, by maintaining a research library in Truro for members and the general public, by offering a means of contact and information exchange between members. The Society is a UK registered non-profit charity, with two permanent employees. Apart from the Librarian and Journal Editor who receive small honoraria, the Library and office in Truro are staffed by volunteers. The Society is run by an eleven member Executive Committee, the Trustees of the charity. The Society establishes contact with other organisations who have similar interests, ranging from the official Record Office and Register Offices, to local history societies and other family history groups. We are a member of the Federation of Family History Societies, who maintain the online data website.

GENUKI Cornwall and its parishes The aim of GENUKI is to serve as a "virtual reference library" of genealogical information that is of particular relevance to the UK & Ireland. It is a noncommercial service, provided by an ever-growing group of volunteers in cooperation with the Federation of Family History Societies and a number of its member societies. In the main, the information that is provided in GENUKI relates to primary historical material, rather than material resulting from genealogists' ongoing research, such as GEDCOM files. (Its role is thus very different from Internet-based services such as GenServ, Roots Surname List, and the soc.genealogy.surnames.britain / soc.genealogy.surnames.ireland newsgroups with associated FAQ, that help genealogists find others researching the same family, and to exchange their research results with them.) There are links to GenServ and Roots Surname List, their pages say how to submit your information. You might also like to submit your information to the Pedigree Resource Files of the LDS Church - the method is given on www.familysearch.org under "collaboration" - and if you submit your information anyone using FamilySearch will be able to see it and share with you in due course. Note: The information provided by GENUKI must not be used for commercial purposes, and all specific restrictions concerning usage, copyright notices, etc., that are to be found on individual information pages within GENUKI must be strictly adhered to. Violation of these rules could gravely harm the cooperation that GENUKI is obtaining from many information providers, and hence threaten its whole future.
